Protecting women from tobacco

For World No Tobacco Day, Monday May 31st, WHO is urging global action to protect women and girls from tobacco marketing and smoke. This is to combat the fact that tobacco companies are spending heavily on marketing campaigns that target women.

Manawatu Breathe Easy Support Group (Inc.)
On Monday 3rd May, 2010, Manawatu Breathe Easy liberated about 150 balloons on the top of Saddle Road to publicise Balloon Week. It was exceptionally windy (& cold ) & the balloons disappeared in a flash. About 20 people attended plus 4 pupils from Ashhurst School which won the poster competition & a prize of $250.

Manawhenua Hauora is a consortium of all four Iwi who have manawhenua status in the Manawatu, Horowhenua, Tararua and Otaki districts. The roopu comprises representatives from Ngati Raukawa, Muaupoko, Rangitaane and Ngati Kahungunu.
Manawhenua Hauora was established to advance iwi Maori health and work together to achieve the best possible health outcomes for iwi Maori people residing in Manawatu, Horowhenua, Otaki and Tararua districts.
Manawhenua Hauora has developed a consumer client survey for whanau/hapu/iwi members to capture the perceptions of Maori consumers and contribute to understanding how the health system is working and whether it needs some improvement for Maori.
